A Haven for Food Lovers, a trip to Scotland would not be complete without a visit to the Marrbury Smokehouse Shop & Bistro at Carsluith Castle.
This is YOUR opportunity to come along to our delightful smokehouse shop where you can buy your very own taste of luxury at “direct from the smokehouse” prices. Perhaps you are self catering in the region, and wish to stock up on some fine local produce, or maybe you want to take a “Taste of Galloway” home for yourself or friends. Either way, you are sure to find tempestuous mouthwatering treats from our Wild Smoked Salmon (which comes from our own net & coble salmon fishings!) to delicasies such as Smoked Peppered Duck Breast or Smoked Kirkcudbright Scallops. From cheeses to chicken, organic sausages to venison, we have it all here at Marrbury Smokehouse. Our online shop offers part of our range, but here at our visitor centre, we stock on a daily basis giving you a full seasonal choice of goods to buy.
Our speciality café serves “out of the ordinary” luxury light bites so be prepared for something quite unique! Our menu changes according to season but of course, at all times, features dishes prepared from Marrbury Smoked Foods. In summer season you will find delicious sandwiches and wraps with freshly prepared home deli salads. In winter, one of the dishes you will find is Ruby’s famous “Marrbury Smokehouse Chowder”. So loved is this dish, people ring throughout the year to ask “Is the chowder on the menu yet?”
No matter which dish you choose you will find service, as always with a smile!
In 2006 we introduced our healthy eating “Food 2 Go” bar where you can order delicious natural light bites to either take away, or enjoy by dining
outdoors in our “picnic” area in the Castle garden. For visitors passing through Galloway en route to the Irish Ferry this is an ideal coffee stop and we have found this year, many travellers have been ordering their picnic of smoked salmon sandwiches to enjoy on the crossing! When visiting Marrbury @ Carsluith Castle, not only do you find our delicious smokehouse foods, you get to enjoy the benefits of free entry to Carsluith Castle! This beautifully restored tower house is open to visitors throughout the year. Climb the tower stairway and enjoy the magnificent views across the Solway.
